A Xing-type white bowl – Tang Dynasty - SOLD

This bowl has gently curving sides rising from a low ringed foot to a lipped rim. The white body is covered overall in a clear glaze, except for the lower part of the outside body and the foot. The colour of the clay has turned to buff colour where exposed, but the true white colour can be seen on the inside of the foot ring. This bowl was likely fired in the Xing kilns, but there were also other kilns in Hebei, Henan and Shanxi firing these bowls at the time. Xing bowls of this kind from excavations are usually dated to mid Tang.
