Brown tea bowl with white rim - Southern Song Dynasty

With almost straight, slightly rounded sides and a short straight footring. The body is almost white and covered in a silky brown glaze except for the area around the rim, which is covered in a transparent glaze. The lower part of the outside and the base are left unglazed. The bowl is relatively low fired which is typical for kilns in Nanfeng, Jiangxi. Similar bowls were fired in Baishe kilns in Nanfeng.

 

Period: Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279)

Size: Diameter 10.2 cm, height 4 cm

Condition: Good condition, wear and firing flaws, no cracks or repairs
