A Canton famille rose punch bowl – Daoguang period

The interior and exterior painted and gilt with panels of figures at various pursuits within borders of butterflies amongst peony, chrysanthemum, and other flowers on a gilt ground.


Period: Daoguang period (1820-1850)

Size: Dia. 36.7 cm, height 15.5 cm

Condition: Good condition, surface scratches and customary wear to the gilding and enamels, small hairline crack going down from the rim approx. 3 cm long (see pictures 17, 18), two figures partly repainted (see picture 16) but no restoration or further damages detected with UV-light. Nice ring tone when tapping it with a finger.
