A blue and white beaker vase – Transitional Period

€1.250
| /

Finely potted rising from a stepped foot to a straight rim. The exterior is boldly painted with bunches of grapes borne on leafy branches with curling tendrils. The inner rim is left unglazed to be able to take a cover. These beakers were ordered by the VOC (Dutch East India Company) in the first half of 17th century. The pattern derived directly from Dutch metalwork of the period.

Period: Chongzhen (1628-1644)

Size: Height 16 cm, diameter of mouth 11.5 cm

Condition: Good condition, minor wear and firing flaws. There is a hairline crack, mainly visible on the inside under UV-light. Since there is no impact mark, it was probably developed in the firing. No further cracks or repairs found under UV-light. See photos for details.
