A carved Longquan shallow bowl – Ming Dynasty
This quite heavy bowl has angled sides rising from a slightly tapered foot to an everted rim, the interior and exterior freely carved with a lotus scrolls. It appears to be a moulded flower in the center. It is applied overall with a sea-green glaze save for a broad ring on the base exposing the light greyish clay.
Period: Early Ming (15th century)
Size: Height 14.7 cm
Condition: Very good condition, wear and minor firing impurities, no visible cracks or repairs. Glaze slightly matt, possibly from burial or exposure to sea water.
