A Dehua Blanc de Chine figure of a buddhist lion – 17th Century
Seated on a rectangular plinth with one foreleg raised over a brocade ball. The head with bared teeth is turned upward and the mane and spine applied with sprig-moulded locks of hair and smaller curls. It has a collar of bells and tassle around the neck. With a tube for holding an incense stick.
Period: 17th Century
Size: Height 26.5 cm
Condition: Part of the collar has been knocked off, chips to the upturned curls on the tail, cracks and firing faults from manufacturing, no repairs found under UV-light.
