A Ding white-glazed cupstand – Five Dynasties – Northern Song Dynasty

The stand has the form of a dish-shaped tray on a straight foot. The rim is decorated with four ridges, and the stepped interior rises to a low secondary rim. It is covered overall in a white glaze with pale greenish tinge.

 

Period: Five Dynasties – Northern Song Dynasty (10th Century)

Size: Diameter 14.6 cm, height 3.4 cm

Condition: The rim with a restored chip approx. 1 x 0.5 cm and two associated hairlines (see photos), minor firing flaws. No further cracks or repairs were detected under UV-light.
