A moulded Qingbai Chrysanthemum-shaped cosmetic box – Southern Song Dynasty - SOLD

The box has chrysanthemum petal shapes moulded on the outer walls of both body and the lid, and the cover is moulded with peonies. The interior of the box is applied with three small 'lotus' bowls divided by curling lotus stems. It is covered with a clear greenish-white glaze except for the flat sightly concave base, rims and part of the underside of the cover.

 

Period: Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279)

Size: Diameter 7.6 cm, height 4.2 cm

Condition: Very good condition, surface wear, some glaze crackling and firing flaws No repairs or cracks found under UV-light.
