A moulded Qingbai “lotus pond” washer – Southern Song Dynasty - SOLD
This thinly potted dish has rounded sides and a flat, slightly concave, bottom. It is moulded to the interior with a lotus pond scene with two swimming ducks and two fish, below a key fret border. It is totally covered in a pale bluish-green glaze, except for the rim. Similar washers have been excavated at the Hutian kiln site, Jingdezhen.
Period: Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279)
Size: Diameter 13.7 cm, height 2.5 cm, weight 89 g
Condition: Excellent condition, minor wear and glazing flaws, no cracks or repairs detected under UV-light
Provenance: From a Swedish private collection acquired during the second half of 20th C.
