A small, moulded Yaozhou chrysanthemum bowl – Northern Song dynasty - SOLD

Of slightly rounded shape with everted rim on a low-cut foot. Moulded to the interior with a central floral medallion encircled by scrolling leafy stems issuing chrysanthemum sprays. The exterior is carved with radiating petal design. It is covered overall in an olive-green glaze. From the Yaozhou kilns, Shaanxi.

 

Period: Northern Song dynasty (960-1127 AD)

Size: Height 4.2 cm, diameter 10.1 cm, weight 79 g

Condition: Good condition, light surface scratches and firing flaws (one larger to the underside of the rim), some grit attached to the outer body
