A small white Cizhou dish with painted decoration – Yuan Dynasty
This dish has been carefully potted with a straight foot and an incurved rim. It is glazed in white over a transparent slip, with a spontaneously painted flower pattern within a double circle, in the center. There are three small marks after firing spikes. This dish was probably produced in Hebei or Shanxi in the Yuan dynasty.
Period: Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368)
Size: Diameter 12.7 cm, height 2.8 cm
Condition: Wear and minor glaze loss on the rim, no cracks or repairs found under UV-light.
Provenance: From an old German collection. Purchased August 1976 from Dr. Werner Schmidt, Berlin.
