A white Ding-type lobed dish – Northern Song - Jin Dynasty
This dish is high fired and thinly potted. The body rises from a short straight foot to a six-lobed rim. It is covered overall with a transparent ivory glaze, except for the base and the lower part of the outside body where the fine white body is exposed. There are three small spur marks in the well from stacking in the kiln. Most probably produced in a Shanxi kiln.
Period: Northern Song - Jin dynasty (960-1279)
Size: Diameter 15.1 cm height 3.7 cm
Condition: Good condition, minor wear and firing flaws, a hairline crack measuring ca 1.8 cm running down from the rim (only visible under UV-light), minor nibble to the rim, no cracks or repairs found under UV-light.
Provenance: From a Swiss private collection, bought from Art Ancien de Chine & Extreme Orient Geneve
